WHY CHOOSE TO INVEST IN A GIANT CURVED LED SCREEN

Curved screens are becoming more and more popular. They are not only present in the professional sector as in business or entertainment, but also invest the homes of individuals in TV format or PC screens. However, this solution is not new.

Indeed, the first curved screen in the cinema was invented by Fred Waller in 1952. It, therefore, took more than 50 years for this tool to become popular. The giant curved LED screen was first used by the world of entertainment and in particular television sets. However, today with the progress of LED techniques, formats and sizes are diversifying, making it possible to use this technology in many areas.

MORE INFORMATION ON CURVED LED GIANT SCREENS

Curved screens can take many forms. This is all the more true thanks to the contributions of new LED solutions. This is particularly the case for flexible and transparent LED screens such as the X7-AIR. Thus, the screens can no longer be only convex or concave, they can follow different curves. It is thus possible to represent screens in the form of waves for example.

However, the most common shapes are, first of all, circular SMD Screens. Here, the screens marry a convex curve and allow to be visible in general at 360°. This will of course depend on whether the screen makes a full circle or not. This makes it possible to communicate in multi-views on a single screen and make the message visible to everyone.

This solution is often used in central places indoors or outdoors with a large number of people gravitating around. It can also be used for aesthetic or architectural purposes.

The second form of the screen and the one that will interest us more in the rest of this article is the concave one. Indeed, these curved screens tend to develop more and more in the future both among professionals and individuals. This format is spreading not only on the side of LED screens but also in the field of LCD and OLED.

CURVED SCREENS TO OPTIMIZE THE FIELD OF VISION

The primary reason curved screens were developed is to optimize the field of view. Indeed, this makes it possible to integrate the two main forms of vision. First of all, the central vision is where our gaze and our attention are directed. Then, the peripheral vision which includes what we perceive of our environment and allows us to protect ourselves from danger.

However, the field of vision is distributed in an arc of a circle. Thus, thanks to the concave shape at the ends of the screen are closer than the centre and better match this field of vision.  The outer parts of the screen therefore better integrate our peripheral vision.

This is especially true with large format screens. For giant LED screens, in addition to not only optimizing the field of vision, but they also make the display more accessible to remote people.  This is the case, for example, of a performance hall or an amphitheatre where the spectators can be off-centre concerning the centre of the stage. Their angle of view will not be ideal for the centre of the screen, but much more for the opposite side part.
